Something awesome is going to happen

A salon for kids?

The owners of Sit Still have created a fun atmosphere for kids to get a haircut, but they have a clear vision. This is no Chuck E. Cheese. Sit Still is a place that’s fun for kids, relaxing for parents, and has a fun modern sensibility that guides every decision they make. Think mid-century modern meets candy shop. Sit Still had a strong brand, but their site didn’t tell the whole story.

What’s it like?

The salon owners could tell you all about what they do, but they felt it was better to show how kids are when they’re getting a haircut. We used stock photography as placeholders in the design assets to show the style of photography we wanted, and the owners agreed that stock couldn’t do it justice. They commissioned a photo shoot at the salon with several children really getting haircuts and “mini-manicures”, along with product shots and general salon shots. The site is full of photos of kids and their salon experience, toys, candy, and a whole lot of fun.

Whimsy, in moderation

Sit Still is meant to be fun, but not a cavalcade of trite “kids” themes. Using the toys and mid-century modern stylings as a guidepost, we created a design that employs the bright colors of the Sit Still brand, whimsical accent elements, and plenty of white space to create a site that blends Swiss modern with fun. It’s a treat to work with a client who has such a clear brand vision, and it only helped strengthen the design work through each concept. The one we landed on embraces the idea of “Real style, real fun” that is the core of Sit Still’s brand.
