Something awesome is going to happen

Show & Tell PDX: Homebrewing!

Last Friday I had the excellent opportunity to talk to interactive industry colleagues about something near and dear to my liver heart – homebrewing. I served five kinds of homebrew to warm up the crowd, then dropped an amazing 17 minutes of blabbing about beer on their unwitting ears. People were kind enough to laugh at my dorky jokes, too! What nice folks we have in Portland.

An additional bomb I dropped was my desire to create an online community to support homebrewing in Portland – brewportland.com. I’m looking for anyone who wants to help flesh out ideas for what this community could be, what other homebrewers want, and what we need to support more homebrewing in Portland. Want to get involved? Email me: stacy (at) thoroughlymodern.com

Thank you all for listening to me talk, because I totally thought I only spoke for 8 minutes. And thank you Substance and Pinch for including me as a presenter! It was awesome, and I look forward to future Show and Tells!

Yay! I applaud your commitment to step back from pixel-pushing and make something. Even better that that something is beer! I tried to get away from the pixels by pursuing a whole new career… but that one is heavily reliant on the computer as well. So, I came up with a new hobby — making, eating and writing about cheese! I homebrew-assist with my husband, though, and there’s nothing more delicious than really good homebrew.
