Time to recharge
One of the wonderful things about running a creative agency is that on the rare 70 degree mid-October day you can play hookey and enjoy the sun. You can’t take a gift like this and stay inside in the Pacific Northwest. No! It’s an imperative to get outside, recharge, enjoy the weather and get some vitamin D.
So I didn’t work today. Instead, I went to the Hoyt Arboretum and wandered amongst the trees — from pine to fir to oak to maple to bamboo (which I know isn’t a tree) and beyond — and spent time with my wife and our dog, chatting and soaking up the amazing weather. It just smelled so good out there!
I did a little yard work, then adjourned to my favorite local watering hole for some sun and beer while I read about starting businesses and what scientists believe but cannot prove. It was a day for unplugging, recharging, being inspired, and digging deeper. These are the things we all need to do more often. It helps me to stay in touch with what I love, aspire to do and be and live, and keeps my priorities in sight.
Take a sunny day break and remember to recharge!

This would be the number one reason I would go freelance - the flexibility to make time for recharging, working out, and learning new things.
All these things are just too often overlooked.
