Oh hey, I made you a mix tape
When was the last time you said that to someone? Remember making mix tapes in high school, maybe even in college? Break up tapes, I have a crush on you tapes, a tape of Alphaville’s “Forever Young” repeated over and over… Then you used the photocopier to make fancy covers for you tapes, gave them to friends, maybe had a mix tape trading club (we had the Myxx Tayp Kollektiv). And where are your old tapes now? Do you even have a cassette player?
What a good thing that Muxtape came along! Upload up to 12 MP3s, organize them however you want, and share with the world! Simply beautiful. After listening to one friend’s muxtape, I bought two albums off the iTunes store. And who says nobody buys music anymore? This is a brilliant way to send music to friends without wasting a CD or violating copyrights. Of course, figuring out how to convert my M4Ps to MP3 was a pain in the butt…
For years I’ve made a monthly mix, so I’ll be sure to update my muxtape with each month’s tunes. Have a muxtape to share?

Sadly, I still call ‘em mix tapes, even though tape hasn’t been involved in a verrry long time. =)
